Hi, have you ever read their FAQ and this post? I know that in the past Durov promised not to add ads, but after the SEC shut down their project to create revenue (the TON project that is now being reborn from the ashes supported by the community), there was no other way without selling the company (ads are contextual, not behavioural and targeted as in platforms). Telegram is still free for everyone, the premium features are extra features that add some functions (except this one). Revoking usernames of unused channels/bots created a big fuss, but evidently users hadn't read the FAQ (I have yet to see a username revoked from an actually used channel/bot). If you have a better way to keep Telegram sustainable, tell us.
