Keeping it running while in other apps
Is there a way to keep KnightTouchBar always running in the touch bar no matter what application i am in? (preferably without sound)
Unfortunately (I think), the NSTouchBar
class documentation explicitly states the following:
On supported MacBook Pro models, the Touch Bar, above the keyboard, shows instances of the NSTouchBar class from the front-most app. (source)
Unless Apple changes how the TouchBar works, this is not possible.
No, only the forward app is shown on the touch bar.

out of curiosity, how does BetterTouchTool get around it?
@mark248am can you give an example?
Well with BetterTouchTool or TouchSwitcher they control what is displayed in the Touch Bar while in other applications. For example with BetterTouchTool I have my own set of buttons that show up when I am in Chrome https://twitter.com/mark248am/status/821081846310113281
Wouldn't the same idea work here? Have KnightTouchBar over ride the default system buttons?
That's interesting, I am going to work on it as soon as I have time.
@AkdM @mark248am Is this still the case with touchbar applications? Not being able to run in the background whenever?
well I know im a couple years late but the Touch Bar pet is able to also get around it and is able to be upfront the whole time but you can hit the x to close out of it.
