[BUG] file system view only works for directories

Open Flexmaen opened this issue 1 year ago • 2 comments

Describe the bug When I chose "file system" the folders will be shown with their correct name. But files will be shown with their track info tags instead of the file name.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Go to 'file system' ("Dateisystem" in my case, hope I used the right translation)
  2. Click on any folder that contains MP3 or FLAC files.
  3. Files won't be shown with their file names. Grammophone seems to read the mp3/flac-tags and display them instead.

Expected behavior Files should be shown with their file names only.

Smartphone (please complete the following information):

  • OS: Android 14
  • App Version: 1.0.12.42ed78

Additional context "file system" section seems to be work in progress anyway, check also Issue 281.

  • [X] I will follow the issue format and will add [BUG] to the start of my issue title, and I acknowledge that if I don't follow the format, my issue might get closed without further explanation.

Why is that a bug?

Because I chose file system view and Gramophone doesn't show the file system name. For me thes seemed like a bug when the view in this section jumps from file system view to MP3 Tag view.

In comparison Issue 281 more seemed like a feature request although a file system without any sorting is quite useless.

But I don't want to waste your recources on secondary discussions, so if you see it different it's also ok.

However, the thing is: I have my music in well structured folders, so all I'd need is the file system view instead of any differend kind of grouping. I didn't find any open source for this yet. There is Folderplayer as commercial solution (which I even bought). But I think it might be great if some open source music player has this too. Well VLC can do this, but it's not the nicest music player.

Completely agree with @Flexmaen. I just switched from Sailfish Linux (Jolla) to Android (Volla  ) and to my surprise, the one thing I'm missing the most in the app-space is a sane music player that just plays my local songs in order of the file system. I also have my music and radio plays properly sorted on the FS and using the tags just doesn't work for me. Even more as Gramaphone does not sort by “track number”, it seems. From all players I checked, Gramophone comes most close to what I'm looking for: a minimal, network/streaming-crap free audio player; but showing (and sorting!) tracks by file name is the one thing that is still missing for me.

@nift4, I would highly appreciate if you could consider this enhancement. I would finally give me a usable FOSS music player for Android.
