[Help] HGSS (JP) anti-piracy being added?

Hello - whenever I use UPR to modify the Japanese Soul Silver .nds file, the rom causes crashes in nds-bootstrap. I checked with those developers and it seems most likely that an AP patch is being added to the rom by UPR, since the same crashes happen when loading roms that are known to be AP patched and do not happen with clean roms. nds-bootstrap has its own antipiracy that is not compatible with the patch.

The only change I am making with UPR is trade evolutions so it seems unlikely that's causing the crashes.

Is an antipiracy patch being added by UPR? If so, could there be a toggle to exclude this AP patch? Thanks everyone
