Setting pg_data_directory should not be mandatory
If I understand correctly, pg_data_directory
is only used when the local-tar
basebackup_mode
is used.
Currently, setting pg_data_directory
is mandatory and a PG_VERSION
must exist in it.
I think this should not be a requirement as it makes no sense when using basic
or pipe
basebackup_mode
.
I second to that. I am running PG Hoard on another machine than the database. I need to create a dummy dir with a PG_VERSION file in it, just to fool this part of the code. And after fooling, it works great.
Funny thing is the pg_data_directory is not required for the ancient debian version available from https://pghoard.ohmu.fi/debian/pghoard_1.4.0-72-g00af18a_all.deb
