Did you enable "Use parallel I2S"? If not, do it, it may help.

blazoncek avatar Aug 02 '25 10:08 blazoncek

Unfortunately I can't find this setting.

hardl1 avatar Aug 02 '25 10:08 hardl1

I've got the same issue. I've got 4 segments, and (I think) two of them are flickering. I2S parallel is enabled (@hardl1 you can find this setting in Config > LED Preferences, just below the memory usage)

Reverting to 0.15.0 "fixes" the issue.

It's introduced in 0.15.1, I think :)

BerendWouters avatar Aug 02 '25 14:08 BerendWouters

That's right, I updated again to 0.15.1, the field is there, it's enabled, but it still flashes.

hardl1 avatar Aug 02 '25 14:08 hardl1

What is that flicker like? just single LEDs or the whole strip and what is you hardware setup? ESP32 with or without levelshifter (which shifter).

lost-hope avatar Aug 02 '25 16:08 lost-hope

The entire strip is flashing. I can't comment on the level shifter, as I bought the device ready-made.

Could anyone experiencing this issue please post their cfg.json file? I haven't been able to replicate it locally, but I have a suspicion it might be related to exact LED strip lengths.

willmmiles avatar Aug 02 '25 17:08 willmmiles

How do I do that? I'm back on 0.15.0, but I can change that.

hardl1 avatar Aug 02 '25 17:08 hardl1

How do I do that? I'm back on 0.15.0, but I can change that.

Settings..Config..Security and Updates; push 'Backup Configuration' and it will download the cfg.json file. You don't need to change software versions; how the software handles the cfg from the older version is relevant to testing.

I've got one from another channel I'm testing now.

I have similar issue with 15.1 (downgrade to 15.0 resolves it) I see flashing when changing brightness of the wled via home assistant. In any case and for all my strips. And I see flashing when open the wled app on my phone or bring the app back in the front (after using another app) in all this cases Tha strips are flashing (switching off for some ms and on again)

Attached you'll find my config. I'm unsure if the lengths of the strip match the configured values. wled_cfg.json

BerendWouters avatar Aug 03 '25 13:08 BerendWouters

I'm seeing this as well, but only with the first 60-ish LEDs of one strip (labelled Southeast in the config). Config attached. FWIW, I'm using a QuinLED Dig-Quad.

Same issue here on QuinLed Uno after upgrading from 14.0 - 15.1, and also trying 16.0 dev.

myhrmans avatar Aug 08 '25 14:08 myhrmans

Same issue here. ESP32 with 9 pins driving 100 leds each. Was working fines for 2 years before. Already disabled all the I2S pins as they were conflicting with the led-pins. Disabling the new Use parallel I2S seems to help in my case.

ensonic avatar Aug 10 '25 16:08 ensonic

Here an extra config: wled_cfg_wled-dana-cama.json

Also, at least on my devices, I can always reproduce the problem going from or to the "waterfall" effect to almost any other, specially "solid"

distante avatar Aug 10 '25 16:08 distante

Same Issue

ESP32 with level shifter 2 legs, leg A fine, leg B starts flashing/issues at led 79(approx) and the rest of the leg. working fine until 0.15.1 reverted back to 0.15.0 and all fine

gmow1 avatar Aug 12 '25 02:08 gmow1

Same here. It also flashes every time, I refresh the list of my WLED installations in the Android app. Maybe it's somehow network related?

kopierschnitte avatar Aug 14 '25 20:08 kopierschnitte

Hi, seems like I have the same problem. I use a « percent » effect to display my solar production output. Since recently ( back from vacation), each time the value changes ( percent value, brightness) the full LED strip blinks (looks like the effect is resetting full length), in the past, if the solar production value increased, new LED’s would lit but others would remain solid (and not flicker). I changed the effect speed to 255 (the max), it improved the situation a little but it’s still not instant. (I played with transition speeds from 0.7sec to 0sec with no results). I have a esp32, wled 0.15.1 build 2507300. I am afraid to go to 0.15.0 and loose everything.

Fauch123456789 avatar Aug 17 '25 09:08 Fauch123456789

@Fauch123456789 you can backup your presets and configuration in the settings in case something fails. Then flash the 0.15.0 version. I did that and I did not lose anything.

distante avatar Aug 17 '25 10:08 distante

@Fauch123456789 I even downgraded without the need to restore anything. Took 3min and everything was fine again.

kopierschnitte avatar Aug 17 '25 10:08 kopierschnitte

Thank you both, I downgraded back to 0.15.0 and the problem is gone so: problem solved! I did not need to reload my presets.

Fauch123456789 avatar Aug 17 '25 13:08 Fauch123456789

Mine isn't the entire strip, it's just some of the LEDs. I have a QuinLed Uno with 195 LEDs and a dim warm white setting, and it'll randomly flash some of the individual pixels green. The pride preset is also extremely flickery. I see the same behavior with or without parallel I2S enabled.

Edit: 1 output (WS281x), 55mA, GRB, 195 pixels
