WS2811 "RGBCCT" Support

Open ForsakenHarmony opened this issue 8 months ago • 14 comments

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. This LED strip seems to have 2 WS2811 chips per segment, one for normal RGB, the other for CW + WW (R and G, B is blank)

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007799677123.html

Describe the solution you'd like Support LED strips that have multiple chips for one position?

Describe alternatives you've considered If spacing was possible in the LED config that might also work

Additional context

There are jus too many variants of WS2811 to add support for them all. You are invited to add it and do a PR. If you can't you need to wait for someone to do so. If these type of stripes become very popular, get people to upvote.

The support would be appreciated as I see more and more strips use same double chip setup. For example BTF Lighting which is quite popular among WLED users. There's a link to the product page: RGBCCT WS2811 strip

I'd definitely like to see this. I have about 60 of these strips and cannot get warm white to work under any of the other given options. I have seen some people have mild success with these strips using the FW1906 controller setting. However there is a lack of color accuracy that makes having such a nice strip worthless.

For anyone who want support for this, please give the color order (RGB WW CW Blank for example or (GRB CW Blank WW) to check which ones are the most common.

So it can't be done like the other strips where You can choose color order like "RGB" OR "GBR"? It would be much more universal that way.

I am not sure it can be done that way. Probably but cant say until its implemented.

Ideally in the following order, RGB + CW + WW

I don't know if this is relevant for anyone, but the LED strip I and some others are referencing are ADRESSABLE strips. No idea if that is relevant.

Looks like these are the only stripes that check both boxes:

  • [ x] FCOB

  • [ x] RGB+CCT

I've forked and added support in: https://github.com/darekxan/WLED

my 5m COB strip has RGB+WWCW layout, 70 pixels total, works with new "WS2811 2IC 5CH" led configuration option

@darekxan is it working good, stable?

Gents, I have the same strip, same question as @hybra.

It appears that the FCOB SPI RGBCCT WS2811 IC LED STRIP from BTF-Lighting kind of works with the following config:

  • IC; FW1906 GRBCW
  • Order; RGB
  • Swap; WW & CW

When I use this config with most of my WLED controllers, I see a short white flash when powering on the strip. The only controller that I tested that doesn't show this behaviour is the QuinLED An-Penta-Plus...

  • With all controllers, I made use of the built-in relay function to combat idle power usage.

Having the same problem with white flashing. Would be so happy to use that strip
