Hello @Rex000 I couldn't reproduce the issue on my side on this nightly version (4.14.18). Does the issue persist on the stable version 4.12.1 or the most recent Version 4.14 Nightly 16?
No, it didn't happen in the stable version. It hasn't happened yet on the latest nightly, 4.14.24. I'll continue to test though.
This literally just happened to me on stable 4.12.1. Well it was actually "restarting protection" but yeah...
What happned to me was:
- no internet all of a sudden, but no problem with wifi
- adguard seems to have stopped working but no error shows. VPN symbol still shows on top of phone screen.
- try to change DNS server to force a restart of Adguard
- stuck at "restarting protection".
- had to force stop the app and restart
- then it started up fine and internet returned
I've seen this happen a few times but very rarely and completely random so I can't reproduce it easily.
@muchqs It would be great if you could do the following steps:
- Enable debug logging: Settings -> General -> Advanced -> Logging level -> Debug.
- Reproduce the problem, then remember the exact time when it happened.
- Collect logs: Settings -> General -> Advanced -> Export logs and system info.
- Send this file to [email protected]:
- include
[android]keyword and#5938as an issue number in the subject of your email - specify the exact time when the issue occurred
- include
This is long-run issue even versions 3.x.x.
If you want reconnect toggle work when no internet connection , you have disable wifi or data at first then reconnect normally the toggle, then enable wifi/data again.
How to reproduce?
just play in router / modem configuration not to assign ip for example.
in nutshell protection toggle on/off not working properly when no connection, and should wifi/data should be ON

That's gonna be hard since I can't really reproduce it. It just happened randomly out of the blue. I've seen this behavior a few times over the years but it's pretty random for me and doesn't happen that often.
The same thing has happened to me, I found that, while unpredictable, happens more often when I have disabled AdGuard to use a VPN (adguard vpn sometimes is blocked/doesn't work for me at work) and turn off the vpn and adguard back on. I have found that force stopping AdGuard and reopening it often works, and when it doesn't, restarting my phone does.
@smexyy Not exactly, the AdGuard creates local VPN tunnel regardless of whether you were connected to the internet or not. Thus the Protection toggle on the Home screen can be switched ON/OFF even without the internet connection. But maybe you are right about long-run issue.
@Divyae52 Nevertheless if this issue will occur again it would be great to have your debug logs to investigate this case further. The main problem here is that you have to use the app with enabled debug mode all the time because I can not reproduce this bug on my side.
