What about Flatpak build?

Hello,

I can't find anything about Flatpak build of AdGuard Home. Please think about it.

Thank you. Best regards🚀

I'm going to be honest, supporting both Snapcraft and Docker builds already increases the complexity of the release process a fair bit. So official Flatpak builds from AdGuard are probably not going to happen in the nearest future. Perhaps, some people from the community could make their own builds.

That’s actually not true. This specific things can be automated. While Snapcraft only Ubuntu is using, flatpaks are used by every else system.

I get the hate for snap on desktops: you open applications frequently. But on a server: do you really care about a couple secs slower startup, once?

@t3dium, please keep the discussion in this issue on-topic. Discussions of Snapcraft are better off in Discussions or somewhere else. Thanks.

That’s not the point. Flatpak has really good features like flatseal and most operating systems are using this instead of Snapcraft. That’s the point. Even on Ubuntu the Snapcraft users are sinking because people replace it with flatpaks.

Flatpak would be a better choice than Snapcraft as it's supported everywhere, especially on immutable oses. For example, MicroOS doesn't support snap apps at all. I don't know about Silverblue, though.

Are there any plans on the distant horizon to implement this yet?

In addition to @archerallstars comment, we have this post from NextCloud https://github.com/nextcloud-snap/nextcloud-snap/wiki/Why-Ubuntu-is-the-only-supported-distro
