Trigger on new Device (new DHCP Client)
Problem Description
i would like to get a trigger for a new device connecting to the adguard dhcp server like "new device found! mac: XXX ip: XXX".
Proposed Solution
something like a IF THIS THAN THAT / MQTT option for adguard triggered by events like a new dhcp client.
Additional Information
i am building a smarthome and we have a lot of gadets. i like to use adguard as dhcp and want to give static ips, different filterlists and stuff like this to every client. right know its a bit stressful to find the real world clients and i would like to connect one client, get the infos (ip and mac) pushed and make the configs on my pc after i installed everything.
I'm aware that AGH doesn't have any notification system implemented.
But you can make this yourself. You can use some ARP scanner and build database of known MAC addresses. When unknown MAC shows in network, make something happen. I think it would be few lines of Python for example.
If you want advanced solution you can check out HomeAssistant.
is it possible to get this feature in near future? and is it possible to get all known macs from adguard on a regular basis? i dont want to maintain two databases with the same informations. if this is possible, i'm fine with building a exec solution in openhab / ha.
is it possible to get this feature in near future?
Sorry I'm not responsible to answer that as I'm not AGH developer. I'm just happy user.
Hello. We are not planning to add any kinds of notifications or webhooks about events in AdGuard Home, as it seems to be largely out of scope for the project at this moment. We may consider those in the future, but if we do, the system will need to be a more comprehensive one, not just for the DHCP server events.
Have plans changed in 3 years? Event notification systems are par for the course in 2025.
