Using overtype slows down text writing

Open xinthose opened this issue 6 years ago • 7 comments

When I use overtype, it causes my keys to register on the screen after about 10 seconds.

VSC version: 1.35.1 (user setup)

I have experienced significant slowness when inserting text using a block paste action ( Ctrl-V or Shift-Insert ) This started with VSCode v 1.32

Can you please recheck with https://github.com/DrMerfy/vscode-overtype?

I'm facing the same issue. @GitMensch : I have to confirm that the same lag happens with the externsion you mentioned.

So you press a key and wait ten seconds until it is entered? And if you disable the extension and reload it is directly entered, if you enable it again, it's again a 10 second delay?

On my end, it's about 2 seconds, but exactly as you described. Happens in c and yaml files, probably even in other file types, too.

That issue is there for some weeks. Before, I used the extension for several month without that issue.

Additional note: I'm running the extension on WSL.

Hello everyone.

Overtype caused me terrible lags when writing using VScode remote on an SSH server. I was forced to uninstall the extension... too bad!

Why not only disabling it in the remote workspace?
