Top Browser URLs and Top Browser Domains Extension doesn't work with Zen Browser

Open DVTPDX opened this issue 11 months ago • 7 comments

  • [X] I am on the latest ActivityWatch version.
  • [X] I have searched the issues of this repo and believe that this is not a duplicate.
  • OS name and version: MacOS Apple M3 Sequoia 15.2
  • ActivityWatch version: Version: v0.13.2

Describe the bug

The App Activity Watch application fails to track browser activity on Zen Browser. The application does not log or display any activity from this browser, making it ineffective for users who rely on Zen Browser for browsing.

To Reproduce

  1. Install and launch the App Activity Watch application (Version: [insert version here]).
  2. Open Zen Browser (Version: 1.0.2-b.5 (Firefox 133.0.3) (aarch64)).
  3. Visit multiple websites and navigate between tabs.
  4. Check the activity log in App Activity Watch.

Expected behavior

The App Activity Watch application should log all browsing activity from Zen Browser, including visited URLs and domains, similar to how it functions with other supported browsers.

  • ActivityWatch version: v0.13.2
  • Zen Browser version: 1.11.1b (Firefox 137.0) (64-bit)

The isssue is already fixed, you'll have to wait for the next release of ActivityWatch, or you can build aw-webui yourself following the instructions in the README.

Also, use the latest web extension and change your browser to Zen in the settings, as it will probably be detected as Firefox.

Hi, I am using the latest version of ActivityWatch and its extension. Also, I did change the browser setting to zen.

It is being detected based on the timeline using "aw-watcher-web-zen", but I still get "No data" for "Top Browser Domains" and "Top Browser URLs". I will attempt to build aw-webui at a later date to see if it fixes the issue. Thanks!

https://github.com/ActivityWatch/aw-webui/commit/1860f1592e5fa871692062460d73b59b807ed19d — this is where support for the Zen browser was added to the aw-webui :)
