Final Cut Pro's Custom Share Destination feature could be a good step towards tighter integration with OpenTimelineIO.

Rephrasing this issue: OTIO has a FCP X XML adapter, but it would be better to look at tighter integration. The "custom share destination" feature might be one of several avenues towards this.
