Getting to CIE based Colorimetry is Overly Complicated

Can we please, please, please provide utilities to go directly to CIE based colourimetry?

None of the nonsense present at the SIGGRAPH 2022 discussion is valid to support routing through ACES, and in fact @Shootfast made all of the relevant points loudly and clearly, as well as being extremely sound sagely advice.

This notion of "surround" and other nonsense is so frustratingly myopic as to be absolutely distractionary.

In the end, ACES or whatever nonsense being peddled depends on CIE based colourimetry, and CIE based colourimetry does not depend on ACES.

Can we please support the basics of CIE colourimetry as all interchange and crossover points? Please? Please?

Do you mean direct interchange with CIE XYZ or something else? Have you seen anything else but "CIE based Colorimetry" whether it be CIE 1931, 1964 or 2012?

I would suggest that the baseline would be any variant, as an enumeration, of the CIE based standards.

CIE 1931 2º Illuminant E Standard Observer CIE 1964 10º Illuminant E Standard Observer CIE 2006 Physiological LMS CIE 2015 2º / 10º etc.

Of course, the baseline of 1931 seems like a reasonable entry point, perhaps expanding in the future.
