Message for people whose fans are not turning on (Disconnect the battery)

I just had a problem where my Left Fan (CPU side) would not turn on, even when I tried to set speed to level 2. I even tried shutting down and restarting, and got nothing.

It turns out that in that situation, you need to disconnect the battery. The EC (embedded controller) for Dell laptops sometimes just fails to work properly, and disconnecting the battery is the only way to reset the EC and get fans working again.
