[Feature Request]: Tabbed settings ordered in their specific functions

Open cooperdk opened this issue 3 years ago • 3 comments

Is there an existing issue for this?

  • [X] I have searched the existing issues and checked the recent builds/commits

What would your feature do ?

Reading other people's frustration, specifically in #5532 by @mcmonkey4eva regarding practically near unmanageable settings due to the more or less random placement of these and the size of the page, I propose that:

  • Each type of setting has its own tab. For example a tab for output-image specifics, one for handling models and their fine-tuning details, and so on.

At the same time, extensions should be moved to it's own tab in settings, because it doesn't need to take up screen real estate in the main window's tab area - with a few extensions, there are more than enough to break the tab layout.

Proposed workflow

  1. Go to settings
  2. Press the tab you need
  3. Configure with an easier to manage screen of settings specific to what you need to configure!

Additional information

Should not be needed as this is primarily a visual enhancement

I'm not disagreeing with your feature request here, it's a good idea, but it's not relevant to the issue of mine that you linked.

In some ways it is, as my suggestion would ensure that your extension could get it's own config area in settings. That's why I came to think of a tabbed settings page.

(You could also make your own in your extension tab, if your extension uses one)

It's not. My extension does not use Settings and does not need to. You've misunderstood the nature of what that extension needs. (Understandably, it's a little bit complicated and my posts about it don't clarify very well, you'd have to actually test-drive the extension a little to understand what's going on with it).

Though, again, not taking away from the actual idea presented here, many other extensions would absolutely benefit from being organized more cleanly.

There are tabs for settings now.
