Embedding hypothes.is for collaborative annotation would be a plus. Of course people with the plugin can do it themselves, but embedding this
- encourages people to do this collab annotation, which is super helpful and can help improve the resource
- makes this much easier to do from mobile devices, including fancy e-readers
This can be done on bookdowns like I did here and on Quartos like I did here
Yihui offers some discussion of how to add this to bookdowns -- it's not hard. With Quarto it's even easier.
(By the way, in the latter link here I'm working on a briefer version of your love letter, adapting it to our purposes and tools (we have this book group at Rethink Priorities), and incorporating it with some further notes and opinions on McElreath.
My initial impression is this is a broader service than I'm looking to provide. But I'll chew on it.
Thanks for considering. I think setup should be easy (I could probably submit a pull request) and it maintains itself. And you shouldn't feel obligated to respond to any questions on the hypothes.is itself. It's just a way to take notes and have a public conversation.
