Post Uninstall SCT has glitched my windows accent color

Open shredded-lesbo opened this issue 3 years ago • 3 comments

Hello!

I was futzing around with SCT and after trying it out decided that it wasn't for me. Upon uninstalling however I discovered a problem with my accent color. Basically despite having the accent color set to red the Sign-Out screen and the Ctrl+Alt+Delete screen all show the windows default blue color.

I've probably spent a few hours at this point trying to figure out exactly what's going on (and yes I realize I could just reinstall windows) and I still haven't a clue.

I don't know if you'll necessarily be able to help but since you wrote this program hopefully you might have an idea f what I need to do to fix this.

Thank you!

Do you use Windows 10 or 11? For now I can send you a reg file that should fix it, after that I'll investigate the issue on my test VM's.

There's more going on here than it seems. When applying a theme file or setting the accent color, Windows is supposed to set back the color to the color specified in the theme file. Sadly, this behaviour doesn't seem to be present sometimes. My idea is to have default themes (colors + metrics + some other relevant stuff) for all three major compatible OS's (8.1, 10 and 11) hardcoded into SCT to be applied when restoring window settings or uninstalling SCT. I'm still working out the specifics on what information I need and how to do it, so no ETA on when this'll be done.

Small update: I think I've found out what causes Windows to not set the lock screen background: The default theme that's applied when installing does allow changing lock screen colors, but the default theme that is stored on disk doesn't. How or if this will be fixed in SCT, I'm unsure of, but I'm at least aware of what the issue is.
