are you aware of any websites / webapps which lets you do this on android? the reason it is not working is because google refused to implement support for the original standard crossplatform way to do this.

since then, and very recently (chrome 132, from January 2025) there appears to be a way to do this on android: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Window/showDirectoryPicker

one drawback is that this is feature-gated to only work on https pages

I'll take a closer look at some point, see how viable it is to add in parallel to the old/standard approach

What is the current work around for this? I am interested in using copyparty as part of my backup strategy for my Android phone.

Currently I am trying to upload directories through Firefox from my Android 16 phone.

@jarrodu for your purpose it is perhaps better to not use the website at all; the commandline uploader can be used in termux which lets you recursively sync folders to a copyparty server
