Launcher appears to restart when tapping an icon/widget

Open terminalmage opened this issue 1 year ago • 5 comments

Describe the bug

Since replacing my Pixel 7 with a Pixel 9, Niagara Launcher occasionally appears to restart (i.e. the widgets and favorites are redrawn) when an item is tapped. So, instead of launching an app, the launcher screen "resets".

This sometimes also happens when tapping something from the pull-down notification drawer (for example, the Settings icon).

Steps to reproduce

  1. Tap an icon in your favorites

Does the issue also occur with other 3rd-party launchers?

Problem doesn't occur with other launchers

Thanks for the report. Did you test if something similar, such as the redrawing / app not opening, happens on other 3rd party launchers? It just helps us eliminate potential OS / Hardware issues. If not, let me know

The only other launcher I've tried is Nova and I don't see this kind of problem there.

Is there a way in the app that I can get a summary of recent crashes? Because it seems like it's crashing and restarting. Earlier today I saw a "Niagara Launcher keeps restarting" message. If I can get access to the traceback it might help narrow down the issue.

You can send us your crash id by using this link on your phone or typing /crash-id into Niagara's app search and hitting enter.

Any news on this? It has made Niagara almost unusable. In addition to the screen resetting when I tap something, sometimes it also resets a second or two after using the Home gesture (drag up from the bottom of the screen). So sometimes it resets right before I try to tap something, causing me to launch something other than intended because the screen changed between when I decide to tap and when I actually tap.
