Describe the solution you'd like

I want a personal and a work set of favorites on the home screen. And I can toggle between them so when I start work, then I can quickly navigate through the work apps. And then switch back after work so I can use my recreational apps.

Feature Request Procedure

Love this idea. The simplicity of the UX of the launcher is what brought me to it and made me a Pro user a year ago. Would love for the favorites list to be as minimal as possible based on context. Much like we can show/hide audio apps with headphones, I'd love to show/hide favorites based on either profile or toggle switching to have a distraction free, simple, beautiful favorite page.

This seems to be a duplicate of #1517. I like the idea personally, and since it's a popular request, I'll bring it up with the team again. But it's not something that's currently planned. We appreciate your understanding.

I'll reopen this, as it might help prevent duplicate tickets.

Noting this for if/when the feature is considered: I was thinking about how I can have apps hidden from the app list on a schedule basis, essentially the compliment of comment 1. On its face it seems they could be handled in tandem. I'm not entirely sure what the interface for this could or should look like, though. Perhaps:

  • Settings -> Features -> App list Schedules, leads to list of schedules and options to create a new schedule. in the add/edit view:
  • area to specify start/end times and days of week to apply.
  • buttons for "favorite apps" and "hide apps", which lead to preexisting UIs for those.

There could also be some means to switch app list profiles manually, in which case the settings path could be more like Settings -> Features -> App list Profiles [-> schedules].

The two use cases I have in mind are:

  • hiding apps related to my morning or evening routines until the appropriate period, perhaps then showing them as favorites.
  • setting a period during weekday working hours where certain apps are hidden.

Possible gotchas:

  • Presumably non-scheduled favorite and hidden apps could be modified independently of the schedules and while they are in effect, but making sure that the user understands what those look like or how it works at any given point (during or after scheduled periods) might be complicated.
  • using my routines story as an example, I might prefer to have groups marked as favorite during the scheduled period, but there isn't a compliment to hiding groups afaik. Perhaps that doesn't matter.

More generally, imo this ties back to contextual surfacing of apps, trying to show you the things that you need only when you need them. It might be interesting to link this to other discussions around that if they exist/if not already mentioned.

👆 I second this feature request! Would be a great addition to the launcher
