Make the Y position of the letters adjustable
So I like how one hand friendly this launcher is. A big part of this is the option to set the Y coordinate for the main widget and favorites. When opening the list though the apps are at a fixed height, and this is to high for me to reach the top three apps.
So instead of:
- Select letter
- Scroll down if app is out of reach
- Click app
I have to:
- Select letter
- Scroll down or up if app is out of reach
- Click app
This might seem like a minor change but I feel like it is more for me to analyze mentally.
Also with the option to pin often used apps to the top, these apps are almost always out of reach.
So I suggest an option to set the position a chapter starts or an option to sync it with the position of the favorite list.
Hey henningBunk!
Thanks for your suggestion, Peter told me he wants to experiment with this idea internally :ok_hand:
+1 to this issue It is getting especially problematic as phones keep getting bigger and bigger.
Three alternative solutions that come to mind would be to A) make the height user-adjustable as suggested. B) maks the sort by usage feature customizable, as in allowing alphabetic, most used at top, and most used at bottom C) turn it upside down. Instead of having the Letter at the top in a set position and the list of apps in that category below it, have the letter in a set position closer to the bottom, the apps in that category above it.
I think option C would be especially intuitive if a similar approach is taken to search, where the first result is closest to the keyboard and you scroll up rather than down to see the rest.
Bottom to top sorting is universally more ergonomic than top to bottom, as it no longer depends on screen size.
Just came back to niagara after using nova for the last two years and this old issue immediatly came to my mind again.
I still love that you can adjust the position of your favorites.
Adjusting the position of the first app of each alphabet letter does only seem logical to me. Its a small thing but since this is the main interaction to start apps a pretty important one to get right I think.
