flatpak on host requirement not documented?

distrobox-host-exec requires Flatpak to be installed on the host, otherwise it fails silently with no indication of what's wrong: https://github.com/89luca89/distrobox/issues/1395

However, AFAICT this requirement is not mentioned anywhere. Even host-spawn's README doesn't make it particularly clear that it uses Flatpak.

Am I missing something here? Is this somehow obvious? Is it actually mentioned somewhere that I missed?

It doesn't seem obvious to me either. host-spawn (relevant line) seems to rely on Flatpak's session-helper (installed on the host machine).

It would be great if the necessary files could be shipped with Distrobox itself. It seems a bit messy to download Flatpak just to enable this feature.
