Custom DNS support
Some SIP providers only work when using their DNS servers, or they work better because they do load-balancing through DNS. An option for custom DNS servers in the account settings would be an ideal solution for the user and other softphones therefore already support this. Right now, the only option for the user when using such an SIP provider with Telephone is to change their whole system DNS settings, which might not be what the user wants to do.
I would recommend you find a better sip provider. Imho a red flag if they force you to use theirs.
Just my local telco. Gotta pay for internet services anyway, which includes unlimited domestic phone calls. But my new all-in-one router has SIP base station functionality with custom DNS now so for my use case I was able to solve it.
Which provider does this?
Telstra used to do this for their residential offerings, the SIP settings were stored in the router, you'd have to use clearly unintended methods to retrieve the credentials. It's as if they didn't want people using it outside of their known software stack.
