Menu bar extra

I still think this is one of the most wished features in Telephone.app and really needs to be implemented soon. I'm already waiting two years for this to finally happen -- please implement it.
I also would like to see this feature to see if Telephone is running/and connected and to call people from there.

Hello, there have been several releases of Telephone since this issue was created. Could you please download and run the latest version to confirm this issue still exists.
Sorry for the template response, just trying to clean up and close old issues here.
I'd be willing to try to code it, but I would need help for many aspects:
- Can someone create icons to use? We might want multiple variants, to represent not connected, connected, ringing, in a call, etc. But maybe that would be overkill for a first implementation. So maybe we start with only one icon, but we need it in dark and light versions, for both menu bar themes.
- Do we want the menu bar icon to display a menu, when clicked? Or we just show the Telephone window? If we want a menu, what should be the items in the menu?
Quick note: this was requested since 2009, and never implemented. If we ever want to have it, we need to take baby steps, or it just won't work. Asking for anything that isn't part of a standard menu won't help.
Myself, I just want the dock icon gone, so I need a menu bar icon to replace it. I care very little if it does anything other than make the main window appear.
Quick actions when in-call like transfer, hold, end would be convenient in the menu bar menu.
I understand and agree that it seems like we won’t ever have this feature. The ticket exists for ages. But actually now we are closer to it than at any point in time before. I plan to add it right after the call history feature that I’m implementing right now.

At least an option to remove the Dock icon and the windows could be shown/hidden by clicking on the menubar icon.
