Cura 5.4.0,Win11,One Corner Tab prints with an extra outline line on the second and third layer.

Open csterlin opened this issue 2 years ago • 10 comments

On two separate jobs I noticed a single corner tab prints an extra outside line on the second and third layers. Using Cura 5.4.0, Win11, 0.16 layer height but with 0.20 layer height for the first layer. Ender3s, 4.2.7 cards with Creality Marlin 2.0.6, Direct Drive (FWIW), generic PLA, 15mm/s initial layer, 80mm/s after third layer. Is not a big deal. Just wanted to be sure you know about this.

us_cents_-_tuberack.zip us_cents_-_basebox.zip Here are two project files that demonstrate the behavior once sliced and ready to print.

Sorry, I closed the issue by mistake. Now reopened.

I have the same problem... The problem doesn't exist in 5.3, so it's a 5.4 bug. On the other hand, I think the problem is with Cura. Not much I can do at my level

There was a note in 5.4.0b1 about making the skirt thicker to make it easier to remove. This behavior exists in 5.4.0 with a single additional skirt line on layers 2 and 3. It looks like your corner tab got the same behavior instead of the skirt when your plugin is active. There's a new setting under build plate adhesion/skirt to control the number of additional lines, and when it is set to one, from the default three, your plugin behaves normally. So yeah, this is due to a Cura change, however you may still be able to address it within your plugin. A workaround is to set the skirt height to one.

@csterlin thanks for the workaround, I'm also seeing this issue with one (and sometimes two) of the corners. Also using Cura 5.4.

For anyone else, the setting is called "Build Plate Adhesion" > "Skirt Height", and it may be invisible unless you customise the visible settings. Setting it from "3" to "1" resolved the issue for me.

Could also use the initial Tab settings.

  • Support pattern : Concentric
  • Support density : 100%
  • Enable support brim : False

Interestingly, unless I set the skirt this plugin seems to want to create tabs starting at layer 2, not one.

Cura issue. Should be solved in Cura 5.5 or 5.6

Got it, unfortunately 55 seems to often just not slice for me so I'm mostly sticking with 5.4
