Supress Alexa Response

If I set up my own parser to trap "alexa turn on the light". Alexa makes it's own reponse to that. I can over-ride it partially by immediately sending some speech to the calling alexa, but it just cuts it off halfway through responding "sorry I can;t fins that device".

Any ideas on how to stop Alexa from responding in this case?

Only way i have found i have found is to create a routine in the alexa app that triggers on that same phrase and does nothing else.

You need to have the trigger and then a small delay in the routine configuration. Or hey you can say "alexa simon says turn on the light"...
