Mouse/Touch to Open an App

Is there a new way perhaps to open an app with a mouse? If you use an airmouse, you need to disable mouse mode otherwise you can't open an app with the DPAD_CENTER button. If mouse mode is enabled, you have to long press DPAD_CENTER and then click open on the right side menu and can't directly open an app.
