Latest Windows build of Scantailor Advanced

Open darnn opened this issue 2 years ago • 16 comments

Hi. Since I couldn't find the latest Windows build here, I thought I'd at least make it available to anyone else that might be looking:

ScanTailor-Advanced-1.0.16 [x64].zip

Thank you very much. Could you post a changelog for this version?

Not as such, but you can read the descriptions of the commits since the previous version: https://github.com/4lex4/scantailor-advanced/commits/master

Edit: This was in response to someone linking the regular releases page. I'm leaving it here for posterity. Yes, but as you can see, the last one there is from 2019, whereas this one integrates all the commits that had been made since then, up to 2020.

Many many many thanks darnn. I've dreamed of a new version of scantailor advanced. Thanks to you, this becomes a reality. I use the software very often. I think many people are happy too.

Any chance of adding new features or solving issues?

Would that I could. There are several I'd like myself. Unfortunately I have no programming experience at all. Even building this version on my own would have probably been very difficult for me. I just found it elsewhere and figured there should be a link on the actual GitHub page, since that's where people would go to look for it.

How do you compile scantailor? I'm not able to compile it.

AlexJacobs1977 avatar Feb 01 '22 18:02 AlexJacobs1977

There are the official instructions on this GitHub page itself, and these are the modifications the person who compiled it made: http://forum.ru-board.com/topic.cgi?forum=5&topic=32945&start=3120#7

Thank you, darnn! My (embarrassing) question is...how can I change the language? I download the package, clicked on scantailor.exe and the software automatically opened up in Russian (Cyrillic script). Thanks!

Go here: sta-settings1

And then change it here: sta-settings2

Thanks, I checked around but did not find the option (lol). You are my rusalka!

Hi guys,

unfortunately this repository seems to be not maintained anymore and many PRs are open.

I have created a fork and added German (my translation) and from the PRs French, Polish and Korean. Further I have synchronized all the language files.

I compiled Scan Tailor Advanced as version 1.0.17 with these new changes. You can find the x64 binary for Windows here: https://github.com/vigri/scantailor-advanced/releases

My "main language" is not C++, however it would be a pity if this great project would not be developed further. Therefore this approach.

PRs are highly welcome :-)

Oh wow, amazing! This build seems to eliminate at least one bug introduced in the one I uploaded, so even better.

darnn avatar Feb 06 '22 18:02 darnn

@vigri Is there anywhere we could submit feature requests?

darnn avatar Feb 06 '22 22:02 darnn

@darnn I've enabled the "Issue" and "Discussions" feature in the repository now --> https://github.com/vigri/scantailor-advanced But as said, C++ is not my main language. I'll try to do my best. My main intention was to provide the community at least an actual build with the PRs and some fixes.

vigri avatar Feb 07 '22 09:02 vigri

That you! I will bear that in mind and only submit the two main things that I'm really missing. If this were actively maintained I would have a bunch more, but alas.

I have been a long time user of scantailor and was despiring for updates. It is really wonderful of you to take up the development and provide a Windows build. I have just downloaded it and managed to change the language (again, thanks to your tip) and will try it out in the next few days. Unfortunately, I may have to bother you with more calls for help and a feature requests.

Our website Odia Bibhaba (https://odiabibhaba.in), an archival site with nearly 10,000 books and hundreds of magazines has been possible because of ScanTailor. Thanks again! Nikhil
