The sequence cache mechanism only works reasonably with sequences incremented by 1. Otherwise, by adding the cached value it may make a value that cannot be generated on the subscriber. If increment is negative it just lags instead of being ahead.

Do you have a suggested patch that cleanly fixes the issue without causing any regressions?
