You can add support for yii 2.1, in the development branch to test it and correct errors,

composer.json:
    "yiisoft/yii2": "~2.0.0|~2.1.0",

I believe that requires new branch plus someone who is ready to get messy with Yii2.1 I suggest you make a PR to start with then it can be placed in a different branch
