Web client screen flickers black when loading a new map chunk

A bit dizzying. With other clients, the image simply becomes static with the word ‘Loading’ in view.

this is exclusive to webgl, doesn't happen on desktop opengl or any software renderer. on 3ds gl it works but can sometimes show corrupted vertices.
