Is your enhancement related to a problem? Please describe.

The plugin generates thumbnail data for the current theme. A theme change or other circumstances will change the thumbnail sizes used. For example, themes use post-thumbnail. Thumbnail size metadata will contain outdated data. For traditional image types, there is a choice of thumbnail regeneration plugins. The regeneration of thumbnail sizes for SVG remains an open question.
