DropBox

    • Plus US$11/mo, 2TB

      • Though I am only using like 45GB of my potential 2TB, and I expect many others would use similarly low amounts of their available storage.
      • 45GB could cost between $0.5625 to $1.035 per month on AWS S3.. so works out quite a bit cheaper.
      • You would need to store ~478GB or more before Dropbox works out as the cheaper option..

AWS S3

    • S3 Standard

      • First 50 TB / Month | $0.023 per GB

    • S3 Intelligent - Tiering * - Automatic cost savings for data with unknown or changing access patterns

      • Frequent Access Tier, First 50 TB / Month | $0.023 per GB

      • Infrequent Access Tier, All Storage / Month | $0.0125 per GB

      • Monitoring and Automation, All Storage / Month | $0.0025 per 1,000 objects

    • S3 Intelligent-Tiering is a new Amazon S3 storage class designed for customers who want to optimize storage costs automatically when data access patterns change, without performance impact or operational overhead. S3 Intelligent-Tiering is the first cloud object storage class that delivers automatic cost savings by moving data between two access tiers — frequent access and infrequent access — when access patterns change, and is ideal for data with unknown or changing access patterns.
