Youtube Ads!
Back to FF.
Yeah wBlock & WebShield still get YouTube ads when you navigate to a YouTube video either by reloading the page, opening the page in a new tab, or opening the page from an other site origin (different site, like google -> youtube video page). We're working on it. As a workaround you should be able to navigate to another part of YouTube within the tab, then go back and the ad should be blocked.
This is a pervasive issue that evades @arjpar and me so far. YouTube keeps making their ad block avoidance methods more and more sophisticated, which makes our job harder by the day. It is interesting that AdGuard still seems to work considering that we use the exact same scriptlets for avoiding Youtube ads.
I've been getting a lot of them recently.
Yeah, I'm working on a new architecture to fix the problem, but it's a bit buggy. I'll update this thread when I come up with a stable alpha. For now, you can track my changes in the "new-codebase" branch.
Youtube ads don't show up in the middle of the video or throughout but before loading the video, if there is an ad, it won't play the video unless we reload or go to another video and then go back to the previous video
The YouTube ads issue is fixed in v0.3, which is available for both iOS and macOS. Please remove yourself from the old TestFlight and try this one:

Just tried it using v0.3 and unfortunately it's still not working ;_;
@lennypangpang please run filter updates (leftmost button in the top menu bar), restart safari, and try again. also make sure that wBlock Advanced has access to all websites. Report back if you're still getting ads.
Yea I tried all of that before raising an issue (even tried removing youtube cookies) and it's still not working
that's very strange; I just tested and I'm getting some ads too. I don't think this is a wBlock issue but a filter list issue (this has happened a few times in the past few days). I would wait a few hours until new filter list updates come, and then try again.
YouTube has been cracking down a lot this week, and even ad blockers like uBlock Origin have been failing to block ads at times. It's a constant battle of new YouTube anti-adblock measures vs. filter list updates.
Yea I just updated the filter lists and it's still not working...cri cri
yeah it started working again late yesterday but stopped again this morning. it's frustrating, but it's a waiting game at this point.
@lennypangpang for me, YouTube ads are gone again. Update your filter lists and let me know if the same is the case for you.
I just tested it and yea...ads are gone and no experiencing interruptions...good stuff Will continue to monitor
