Unfortunately the latest version doesn't manage to block YouTube ads, after their recent changes:

yeah I'm working to resolve this. it seems to only happen when you click videos in the sidebar.

On WebShield the ad never shows, but it does load, it's a black video until the video finally loads. I think this may be an issue with the architecture of WebShield/wBlock. If you see the ad wBlock may be doing something differently? The WebExtension code is very similar to WebShield.

I've been getting ads to fully load and play on WebShield too. It was super rare just like on wBlock but it happens on occasion.

@0xCUB3 @meshuggah44 I think it's almost certainly a timing issue. I looked at the code of Wipr 2 Extra, AdGuard for Safari on iOS and saw what I did differently. I think it is in fact an architecture problem that we need to fix. wBlock shares the same problems as WebShield in this regard.

I've been getting YouTube ads a lot today. Never happened before this.

This is a much more complicated problem than I originally thought. I'll need to figure out a new architecture which will take some time. YouTube is getting a lot smarter with their blocking mechanisms, and safari's blocking system is not making it easy to circumvent it compared to other browsers.

I think the latest TestFlight release fixed the issue. Try it out (make sure to restart safari fully and remove all other instances of wBlock): https://testflight.apple.com/join/SVpptVb5

@0xCUB3 I think this issue still exists, but not on v0.1.

yep, I’ve rollbacked to v0.1 and all works.

This has been fixed in v0.3 (in alpha for now). See #57
