Open Beersteddy opened this issue 2 years ago • 5 comments

Samsung Galaxy S21

Packages documentation to update:

com.samsung.android.beaconmanager
com.samsung.android.easysetup
com.samsung.android.mdx

To be added to description

Removing any of those apps will remove "device control" & "media output" from quick control pulldown menu also it will cause SmartThings to constantly crash. Problem will start after restarting phone.

Current description states that Smart Things replaces these packages. Are you saying that's not the case? That these are needed for Smart Things to work? Also, do you have any info on whether these run in the background? (Developer Options->Running Services)

Smart Things will crash if those are disabled. I had to run elimination process to get "device control" to show up once again. I was left only with this 3 apps disabled and yet device control didn't show up. When enabled it did.

Checked Services. No sign of above apps.

Are you saying it's one of these 3 that remove the menu, but you don't know which one? Or that ALL of them disable it, i.e: any one of them being disabled removes the menu?

It looks like all 3 of them are needed for "device control".

What I don't understand is why "device control" stays fully functional until device restarts.

(Device: Z Flip3 on Android 12, Aug 1 security patch)

Does this refer to the "Devce control" and "Media output" buttons in the quick control pulldown? I think that comes from com.samsung.android.mdx.quickboard only. I uninstall the three packages and Media output still works, but it stops working (and doesn't show up) when mdx.quickboard is uninstalled
