New Code of Conduct (based on Python Discord)
Loads of 'python' references still left in there, just putting this up for early comment!
Just to add: this is based on https://www.pythondiscord.com/pages/code-of-conduct/
Discussing topics that are overly polarizing, sensitive, or incite arguments. This includes the discussion of polarizing political views, violence, suicide, and rape.
I think discussion of politics should be fine, considering how much it's done already, which usually is very constructive.
The use of sexualized language or imagery and sexual attention or advances
In some intepretations, it would also prohibit some jokes that would be totally harmless, such as those already done under the current ruleset. Not sure how strictly this is intended.
Those are good points (and i was just writing about them but you got there before me)
I'll try to maintain a list of things we plan to change
- [ ] Discussion of polarizing political topics - The rules currently confine this to forum threads, so we likely need to adjust the wording.
- [ ] Clarify inappropriate language to make clear swearwords are allowed/tolerated. - people should be able to use "thats fucking awsome" without worrying.
also if you can - comment on a line directly instead of quoting them. that way discussions can be grouped per line
another nice ruleset we could draw from: https://community.hachyderm.io/docs/rule-explainer/
Also, I would find it important to explicitly (not just implicitly within "harassment" or "being a dick") forbid misinformation and derogatory talk about mental disorders (e.g. schizophrenia as in a recent occurrence where it was implicitly stated that schizophrenia means people can't do rational thought and believe in conspiracy theories etc).
Yes, that's a good idea. for now I extended it to a point where we can start Talk about specifics. feel free to recommend wording and where this should be added.
OK this is really good, exactly along the lines I hope for. I'm video producing today and a bit of tomorrow, but if someone makes the above changes, I'll review and approve :ok_hand: thank you!
there should probably be a off-discord way to do appeals - like a email.
would you be able to use/make one for this @0atman ?
@laundmo I think this is ready
