I have also encountered this problem from time to time. It may not be related solely to the template, as my template works for most files but crashes with a few items.

I have noticed that I usually encounter this issue when adding an item through the Zotero connector on my browser. However, I have found that this can be resolved by using alternative approaches, such as adding the item through its DOI or BibTeX entry.
