File picker shows all files instead of image gallery UI

When tapping the gallery icon in the message input, the file picker opens, but it shows all types of files (PDFs, videos, etc.), not just images. Also, it does not open in a photo-gallery style view, which would be expected for selecting images. This makes it confusing for users who only want to send images.
