UDCD_UVC_oled_off v1.7 - screen comes back on

Open tapperp opened this issue 4 years ago • 10 comments

Hi xerpi,

First, thank you for the great plugin. I tried it today for the first time and it works well, except for one issue.

My setup: Vita 1000 enso 3.60 with OLED screen. Streaming to Windows 10 using PotPlayer 64bit.

ISSUE: I'm using the oled_off version to save power, but after a bit of time the Vita screen always comes back on and will stay on. The only way to turn it back off is to unplug the USB and replug, then restart the video stream capture.

Note, I tried turning off USB charging, but that did not solve the issue.

Again, thank you.

Same happens on my vita, has been happening for all revisions of oled off for me. Not sure what turns back on the display.

vita 1000, enso 3.60, potplayer on windows 10 20h2.

I've noticed this happen when I close the software I am using to capture the screen. Not sure if related or not.

Hello, Screen turning on when screen capture stops looks like normal behaviour. (software closed and/or capture stopped) But there is a problem when resuming from lock screen. This will happen automatically after a few minutes of inactivity (see power saving settings). Capture should stop when locking screen IMHO. I will have a look at it but I have no particuliar knowledge about this kind of software. Have a nice day.

I should ask (or if you can do it for me, and write the answer here) on the PSVita scene-related Discord servers to see if anybody knows which would be the proper functions to hook for all of this to work properly.

Is there anything that you think might trigger the screen turning on again? Is the timeout always the same?

It seems to happen for me generally when I haven't touched a button for a small bit, and once I hit something the screen turns back on. It doesn't require that long a period of not hitting a button, and the Vita is not locked or anything. I generally notice it after watching a cutscene or setting it down for a second to check something. Basically it happens after hitting a button after the point when the vita lowers its brightness normally.

EDIT: Plugin called staybright (https://forum.devchroma.nl/index.php/topic,102.0.html) Seems to fix this actually, prevents the screen from dimming, which prevents the screen from turning on when something is pressed afterwards

You should override power saving settings Sorry I will edit. Pretty sure as I said the timeout is related to your settings.
