Sometimes clicking in a selection will not place the caret

In the hosted demo, when I make a selection and then click in the selection, the caret is not placed and the selection remains.

Steps to reproduce:

  • Note I am spamming clicking into the selection throughout the gif below, and the caret is only placed occasionally.

Google Chrome 65.0.3325.181, macOS High Sierra 10.13.1

I believe this is the same issue as #66. After removing the code block, I am unable to reproduce this.
