I am not sure why it is there (in §3.6); I have the impression it is a copy/paste leftover...

I would think that the example could rather show how one could make the github example more unambiguous via JSON-LD (although, of course, this would be an abstract example insofar as we would have to convince GH to use that...)

JSON-LD has also changed quite a bit since the original BP was done. We can do a lot more using a combination of a context specified via profile to application/json, scoped contexts, and nested properties.
