[Usage]: How to use pipeline parallelism in offline inference?
Your current environment
Hi I want to know how to use pipeline parallelism in offline inference? Can anyone give a concrete example about how to use pipeline? Looking forward to the reply
How would you like to use vllm
I want to run inference of a [specific model](put link here). I don't know how to integrate it with vllm.

Minimal code snippet:
from vllm import LLM
llm = LLM(
model=YOUR_MODEL_PATH,
pipeline_parallel_size=2,
)

@jeejeelee Thank you. You mean this? I didn't see the pipeline_parallel_size in init's parameters.

ok Thank you very much, I will have a try
@jeejeelee I have tried to use pp in LLM API, however, I met the problem raise NotImplementedError( NotImplementedError: Pipeline parallelism is only supported through AsyncLLMEngine as performance will be severely degraded otherwise. I think pp should use the async engine, and do you know how to use async engine?
Try:
vllm serve YOUR_MODEL_PATH --pipeline-parallel-size 2
Thank you. I am new to vllm, Is this online inference?
Thank you. I am new to vllm, Is this online inference?
Yes
So, how about offline inference? can async engine be used in offline inference?

I think it cannot be
@jeejeelee Okay,thank you
@jeejeelee Hi, when I set tp_size > 8 in offline inference, I met nccl errors. Does vllm support tp_size > 8 in multi-node env?
Hi, any progress? I'm new to vLLM and also want to offline inference a model using pipeline parallelism.
