Cannot clear field in strict mode

When set to strict mode, You cannot clear the field with backspace and begin typing a number. Just moves cursor to the beginning of the minimum number. Maybe there can be a half-way point between strict and loose modes to accomplish this?

Can you guys fix this one please .. its not clearning the element
