This software hasn't been updated since last years. Seems like it's been abandoned.

The most recent pre-release build was made available on March 28th of this year: https://github.com/vincentneo/LosslessSwitcher/releases

Have you tried version 1.1 build 11, or any other later version?

I didn't notice the other branches or see the prereleases. I should have looked a little deeper before assuming it was abandoned.

While writing this, the "Latest 1.0" randomly changed my sample rate to 96K while playing back a 24bit 44k song on Apple Music.

Pre-release 1.1.0-beta9 wasn't changing my sample rate at all until I restarted apple music for the second time after installing the new version. When tracks change, I get multiple audio glitches even when the rate is the same until it stops changing my rate altogether. I wish I could be more help, but I haven't learned swift yet.

Be assured that this project isn't abandoned. I just didn't have time to focus on this recently.

Pre-release 1.1.0-beta9

Each beta release has it's quirks.

For example: Beta 9's promise of a bit depth toggle, doesn't work right. Beta 8's bit depth support, made detection overall, less sensitive.

But please do use the betas these days. Any of the betas would be better than the 1.0.

I wish I could be more help, but I haven't learned swift yet.

Actually, there isn't much that can be helped. The many issues faced such as glitches, is intrinsic to the detection method, and there is simply no better detection method so far.
