Format switch in the menu of the application

It would be great to have a format switch menu inside the Application, so when there is no Music application running one could change the format without opening the Audio MIDI Setup application.

manually selecting the sample rate and bit depth in the dropdown menu would be a great and important enhancement. Also very useful in case the switcher misses to switch the rate, which sometimes happens. I don't know why.
