Captions to images from local file

Open Archkik opened this issue 1 year ago • 4 comments

Thank you for the fantastic plugin. I'm currently trying to add captions to local images but couldn't find any information on how to do this in the documentation. Here's an example of what I'm working with:

I found same question here https://github.com/vertis/obsidian-image-layouts/issues/11#issuecomment-2066981982

I apologise for the slow response. This file details how to add text: https://github.com/vertis/obsidian-image-layouts/blob/main/docs/text.md

The long and short of it is that "Caption" is a singular for the whole layout and descriptions overlays over each image, you would provide one for each image in the set.

In my experience, using the ![Some Description](image.jpg) format seems to only work for URLs. The exact same structure with local files instead shows "Image 1", "Image 2", etc as descriptions.

The frontmatter method doesn't work with either, the description fields don't show up at all.

Experiencing the same. Documentation is rather bare in regards to certain instances. All I see for local images is "Image 1" "Image 2"

This works for me (agree that the doc could be clearer)

```image-layout-a
---
descriptions:
- Soundwave
- Carbon Black
---
![[lsx-ii-soundwave.png]]
![[lsx-ii-carbon-black.png]]
```

Giving this:

image

Would be nice to see the ![[my-image.png|my description]] format supported though!
