On Scan List (F3) when AP name is made by emoji shows just characters of it.

Shows like:

\xf0\x9f\x87\xb9\xf0\x9f\x87\xb7

Linux shows the right way of emoji image

Sorry for the late reply. wavemon precedes the availability of unicode on terminals. It is possible to do that, but I lack the free time to cover all cases (unicode supported/not supported).
