No snapshot builds are planned. You can use the closest release and overwrite the Mc version requirement, decent chance that works.

No not build. You can't build for snapshots without it being setup before. I meant take the 1.20.6 jar from modrinth or cf, and just change the fabric.mod.json to allow...

I don't know which way they used to achieve this effect, but I don't think it's worth it to sink in a bunch of time and code to apply that....

It would be nice if this could get fixed. I build for 1.20.4-1.16.5, and excluding the probably most "different" versions(1.17.1 is broken too) from testing makes stuff tricky.

Not really, because vines have no "side"(same with scaffolding/the nether vines). Of cause I could enable it for them too, but it looks really weird when the player just rotates...

Then Immersive Portal seems to break the player tick logic. Will have to look into it.

The issue is that the mod currently doesn't know about "an elytra slot". I guess this is talking about Trinkets?

I think it was tested with trinkets in regards to using banners as capes, not having an extra elytra slot. Will fix that somewhere in the future.
